Jean Atkin was commissioned to write a poem for Radio 4’s Something Understood on the theme of Bread. It was broadcast on 23rd August.
Jean Atkin was runner-up in the Prole Laureate competition 2015. She won the Fire River Poets competition 2014/15,and was Poet in Residence at Wenlock Poetry Festival, reading in the final Gala evening with Carol Ann Duffy and Imtiaz Dharker.
Jean Atkin has been highly commended in the Bristol Poetry Prize, judged by Penelope Shuttle.
Jean Atkin will be the Poet in Residence for this year’s Wenlock Poetry Festival.
Jean Atkin will be reading at Red Parrot Poetry, at The Wine Bar in Presteigne on Monday 9th March at 7.30pm.
Jean Atkin will be Reader in Residence at Southwater Library in Telford.
Jean Atkin has recently completed her residency at Acton Scott, and her residency has been highlighted as a Case Study on Arts Council England’s website:

Jean Atkin was Poet in Residence at Acton Scott Historic Working Farm in Shropshire between April and July this year.
Plenty of Oversteps poets are reading at Ways with Words at Dartington in the next fortnight, including Christopher North, Simon Williams, Susan Taylor and Miriam Darlington. Then on Saturday 13th there will be Oversteps events all day, featuring John Daniels, Kathleen Kummer, Jean Atkin, Charles Bennett, Oz Hardwick, Alwyn Marriage, Genista Lewes, Jennie Osborne and the singer-songwriter Zoë Marriage.
Jean Atkin has been selected by the Scottish Poetry Library to be poet in residence at Logan Botanic Garden in Galloway this August as part of the Walking with Poets project.
